Slough - Dolphin ground
Uxbridge Avenue : SL1 3SU Bicycle racing in Slough was first organised on the Dolphin Ground, Uxbridge Road, which was next to the Dolphin Hotel. Slough Town AFC played at the ground and George Bennett Snr, an entrepreneur from Slough, became their owner, Bennett later bought the Dolphin Hotel.

The first bicycle races at the Dolphin Ground took place at the Slough annual sports from 1884 and the sports were organised by Slough Cricket, Football and Tennis Club. The grass track was 440 yards around. The Slough annual sports continued at Easter or Whitsun for almost thirty years.

The Sporting Life of 22nd March 1890 reported that the 13th Annual sports would be held on Easter Monday to include a "one mile safety bicycle race and a two miles bicycle (for the Challenge cup) (safeties and ordinaries to run in separate heats)."

The 18th Annual Sports were held at the Dolphin Ground on Easter Monday 1895 in front of a crowd of 4,000 people. The bicycle events were all handicap races; ½ mile novices, 1 mile local riders, 1 mile open and 2 miles open.

The Windsor Liberal Club held their annual sports at Slough in 1909 because a suitable ground in Windsor was not available. The Windsor, Eton and Slough Express commented "The track was of course bad for cycling and was rather dangerous at the corners, but a little sawdust was procured just before the final heat." There were 674 entries for the sports including Leon Meredith, the World 100km Champion. The top race was the 5 miles scratch race for the Milner-Gibson Challenge Cup which Meredith had won twice before. After an exciting race Meredith beat Sydney Bailey of the Poly to win the trophy outright.

The 1912 Easter sports were organised by the Chalvey Athletic Club because Slough FC had withdrawn as the sports were a commercial failure. As usual there was a good entry, 53 for the one mile handicap bicycle race. A crowd of 3,000 watched the athletic and bicycle races which included the two miles NCU (Berks, Oxon, S Bucks) Championship.

After George Bennett bought the Dolphin Hotel in 1914, he started to develop the Dolphin Ground. In 1928 he built a greyhound track around the pitch. Bennett sold the ground in 1936 to Clapham Stadium Co. and they renamed the track Slough Greyhound Stadium. The Stadium closed in 1987 and the stadium site was developed as a Sainsbury's supermarket.
